This is an Excel file containing a comprehensive overview of trends in the Chinese grain balance. It provides details of the historical production and consumption of wheat, coarse grains, rice, soybeans, canola and sunflowers and analyses the growing deficit which has led to China’s massive grain imports.

 

 

There are four spreadsheets with data and graphics with notes attached to each graph.

 

The first spreadsheet provides data on the overall developing grain deficit.

 

The second spreadsheet specifically analyses the trends in the cereals.

 

The third spreadsheet provides the data and trends in China’s stocks of all grains.

 

The fourth spreadsheet provides details of the imports of each of the grains.
